As a Tablet (if you don’t attached with mobile dock), the Transformer Prime TF 201 only 8.3 mm slim with only 586grams light. This should be interesting. But if you docking it with qwerty keyboard, the thickness would got about 17 to 19.4 mm. For the actual size (without dock), the Prime has 263 mm x 180.8 mm x 8.3 mm and for the dock device it has 263 x 180 x 8 to 10.4 mm. The Displya screen uses 10.1 inches diagonal diameter size with LED backlight Super IPS+ Capacitive touchscreen. For the resolution screen it uses 1280 x 800 pixels resolution and finished with Corning Gorrila Glass for protection material (scratch resistant).

By using Super IPS+, it been claimed (according to official page of Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime TF201) that the screen capable to be viewed 178⁰ angle (ultra wide) and with ultra bright screen. Btw, The Tablet available for two colors body: Amethyst Gray, and Champagne Gold.

On the docking, as shown at the image above, you will get and understanding where is the mobile docking latch to move the docking latch to left in order to release Eee Pad Prime from the mobile docking, you can see the USB Port version 2.0 in order you wanna connect your USB device, the Docking connector and also Battery charge indicator.

Overall, we must say that the User Manual of Eee Pad Transformer Prime not quite complete, the tutorial available in the UM only consist small parts (the important ones) which not include the tutorial how to use all the available applications. But still for basic functions such as how to pairing the bluetooth, connects the Wi-Fi to Hotspot, Using Camera, Using Gmail or Email, are available. How to set the alarm, how to use the Google eBook, and some others kind of usage tutorial aren’t available. It’s only 70 pages.

The hardware specs of Transformer Prime are another best features in comparison to recent Tablet such as Samsung Galaxy Tab, XYBoard by Motorola or even iPad 2. If you don’t believe, just read these carefully.

A Quad Core (4 core) CPU at 1.3Ghz processor speed with NVIDIA Tegra 3 chipset and ULP GeForce GPU is one of the best of the best Processor used in Tablet at this day (per December 2011), although for the RAM is the same with others. It “only” had 1GB RAM. For the storage, there are two choice: TF201 with 16GB Storage Memory or the 32GB Memory. Of course the 32GB would get more expensive than the 16GB. It about 100USD in difference.
For additional storage, the tablet that runs under Android 3.2 Honeycomb also get 8GB ASUS Webstore for life time. Btw, It been said that the Honeycomb ready for Upgrade to Android Ice Cream Sandwich / Android 4.0.

Although this tablet attached with 1.2megapixel camera on the front side which usually had a usage for Video Call, you had to understand that the Video Call in this Prime TF201 is not using Data Networking Communication. This Device can’t be used to make a SMS, or Mobile calling or MMS. Therefore you can get the Video Calling by Messenger Service, such as Skype (if support), Qik, or Google Talk with Video Call and Voice.

On the rear side, the 8 Megapixel camera attached as the main camera. Assisted with LED Flash and capable to record HD Video 1080p@30fps (Full HD). It uses Large F2.4 aperture with Autofocus and support for geo-tagging.

For the battery, it consists two parts. The docking mobile and also the tablet. For the dock it uses 22Wh Li-Polymer battery, and for the tablet uses 25Wh Li-polymer battery. Standalone battery tablet said up to 12 hours usage, but combined with dock pad it can be uses up to 18 hours. Seems to be good :)

Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth version 2.1 plus EDR, USB 2.0 port (on the dock), micro HDMI, microSD Card reader / slot up to 32GB, SD card reader (on dock) and many more (including google preloaded applications such as, Google Search, Android Market, Google Maps, Google Navigation, etc)

    am locked out of my transformer prime tf201. can’t open it up, there is a small lock symbol at the bottom of the screen. other than that all i can
    get is the time (of day). can you tell me what it is i have hit to lock it up, and how to unlock it. can’t do anything on screen, can’t get there.

    Hi! I have a problem with the USB-port. There is some kind of rubber-lid in front of the USB-port. It seems, the idea is to push the lid down, so that it disappears inside, to “open” the USB-port. However, I just don’t manage to push it all the way down/inside. It just doesn’t leave enough room for the USB-stick. Or am I supposed to remove this beige rubber-lid completely? I’d be happy for some advice from you all. :o)
