As we wrote before, although some of them has the same name, the Samsung Galaxy S II but in the design body, each of SGS2 come with difference design and also difference of code series (SGH i777, SGH T989, GT I9100). Even for the sprint SPH D710 known as Samsung Epic 4G Touch. And it seems that the Skyrocket (Trademark) is used to distinguished the Samsung Galaxy S II SGH i777 and Samsung Galaxy S II SGH i727 that both specially design for AT&T. What differences between this two? Let start to elaborate more.
Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket released just only on month after Samsung Galaxy S II i777. SGS2 i777 available since October 2, 2011, but for SGS2 i727 available since 5 October. Although its powered with the same Android Gingerbread, but the Skyrocket get the newer version than i777. Skyrocket with Android 2.3.5, i777 with 2.3.4. Skyrocket come with Dual core 1,5Ghz, SGS II i777 armored with “only” dual core 1,2GMhz. Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH i727 AT&T Technical Specifications
It’s 0.2 inches difference on the display screen (measured diagonally) between Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket and Samsung Galaxy S II i777. Skyrocket comes with larger screen at 4.5 inches and for i777 uses the 4.3 inches. Although the screen between those two differ, so do the dimension size and weight (4.96 x 2.60 x 0.35 inches / 126 x 66 x 9 mm, 4.3 ounces / 122grams for i727 and 5.11 x 2.71 x 0.37 inches / 129.8 x 68.8 x 9.49 mm, 4.6 ounces / 130 grams for Skyrocket), but the resolution, material, colors, and features screen are the same: uses Super AMOLED Plus Capacitive touchscreen with 480 x 800 pixels resolution, 16M colors, and has proximity, Gorilla Glass for scratch resistant, light sensor, and accelerometer sensor. It also support multi-touch input method.
The others features also the same, Skyrocket attached with 8 Megapixel Camera in the rear side panel of the body of the phone, has LED Flash light, has secondary 2 Megapixel front facing camera for Video Calling or self capture, Video Light, HD Video Recording (camcorder up to 1080p@30fps and also 720p@30fps), auto focus, touch focus, smile detection, face detection and Image editor. Captured photo or video and other document files can be stored on 16GB built in memory which expandable through microSD card up to 32GB. Along with 1500MHz CPU, the Skyrocket also run along 1024MB RAM (1GB RAM).
Another difference between the Skyrocket i727 and SGS2 i777 is the supportable of 4G LTE Technology. SGS2 i777 for AT&T doesn’t support 4G LTE (but support 4G HSDPA+ 21.1Mbps), but Skyrocket supports for 4G LTE and uses LTE 700 Class 17 at 1700 2100 MHz frequency and . Of course both of them support EDGE, GPRS, UMTS aka 3G HSDPA+, HSDPA and HSUPA.
Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB also available. the most important part is that the Skyrocket uses 1850mAh which a bit higher than i777 (1650mAh) for the Battery capacity Li-Ion type. Gyrosensor, Digital Compass, Google preloade application also already installed.
