This is my personal experience. Usually I try to use Google Search by Image using my Desktop Laptop with Google Chrome or Firefox Browser on my Windows 7 Operating System. But last night, I tried to search with my image that stored on my Galaxy Note 10.1 that runs on Android Jelly Bean Operating System but It seems those kind of Google Search by Image can not be don on Android Devices.
I tried to find the answer on the Internet, some of them suggesting me on using Android Applications called as Image Search (from Wagachat developer) that mentioned it used Google Search by Image API. But that not what I actually look for. I want it the same way as I do in my Desktop Client. I tried to use Google Goggles App, but it also failed.
Finally, after an hours of figuring it out, come out the good solution for what I want from my Mind. And then after trying it, the result is perfect. Here are what I do to make Google Search by Image can be don on my Android Devices (Smartphone; at this case on my Galaxy Note 10.1).
Download FireFox Applications from Google Play (formerly Android Market)
First of all to make you need a Internet Browser on your Android Device. At this time I used FireFox Application (I didn’t try another browser yet, but you can try it if you want). Go to Google Play, Search for Firefox Browser, then Download it.
Install Phony Firefox Mobile Browser Add-on (Extension)
If you done on downloading and installing the FireFox Browser, now you need to install Firefox extension (Add-ons) called as Phony (click the link or search for your Firefox Android Browser).
Phony is a extension that would allow you to change the user-agent on your FireFox Browser to another “artificial” user-agent. This is necessary to make the google think that we are not currently runs on Mobile browser but force to thing we are in Desktop browser mode. That’s what Phony Do.
Open FireFox Browser in your Android device that has been added with Phony Add-on (Extension) ~> Go to FireFox Menu ~> Tap Phony
Change Default setting of Phony to Desktop Firefox.
Open Google Search by Image with Firefox Browser
First you need to open Google Search by Image Inside Search (click the link) from your Firefox. Under Search by Image title, click “Try it now” then you’ll redirected to Google Image Search (pictured below.
Click the “Camera icon” locates beside the Search button.
Click “Upload an image”
Find the image located on your Android Devices (Gallery, Dropbox, etc) or take a photo from your camera.
Then wait for a while when photo of your is being uploaded.
And walla, Search by Image is Done just like you can use on your Desktop PC or Laptop.
